Cashey

I love animals.
Here's one of my little buddies. She comes to visit me everyday.
My girl and I left a couple of nuts out for the squirrels that run around in our neighborhood and now they come everyday - sometimes a few times a day.
We left out almonds, pecans, walnuts, pistachios - we tried them all.

But one squirrel in particular came around and we got to know her personality.
She stands out because she's the only one that started jumping on our screens on our door and windows.
We thought it was cute, but it also got a little creepy so we stopped rewarding her behavior for it - and eventually she settled down.
Still it made it easier to identify when she was around.
We found out she loves cashews the best - so we named her Cashey.
I think we really bonded with her and she trusted me.
I noticed she was scratching all the time and I found out online that they can get mange. This was a squirrel enthusiast and I ordered a balm from him that could be dabbed on.

She actually let me treat her, too!
I could get close enough to apply it and within two weeks, she improved and stopped itching!
My cat goes to the screen and looks at her sometimes. I was worried that would be a problem, but it amazes me the intelligence of animals.
They know not to mess with each other and just co-exist together.
A lesson we could stand to learn better...
