SOLD!!! This Gold-Label Vintage Kamaka Soprano Could Be Yours - SOLD

Fall in love with this tiny beauty that will increase your joy of playing with its sweet sound.

If you have found yourself smitten by the lull of ukulele and are expanding your collection of prized instruments, you’ll be excited to know that this Gold-Label Vintage Kamaka Soprano could be yours.

Imagine being transported to a beautiful, perfect warm, sunny day, lounging on a beach covered in the most perfect golden sand. The sun is out. A woman walks by you smiling in a bikini with sarong tied over her hips. A cool breeze lifts the brim of her sun hat as she passes by. Children laughing, splashing along the shore as the sea teases along the coast. Couples snorkeling a dozen feet away fascinated by the fish beneath.

And you gaze at the view, sitting along a wall strumming your ukulele. It sings of life on the island. All the natural elements in perfect harmony together: island, sky, and ocean - while you strum happily.

And what instrument could be better than a Kamaka ukulele that is nearly synonymous with Hawaii itself.

Made by four generations in Hawaii, Kamaka is over 100 years strong, having been built and guided on the foundation of aloha (unconditional love), ohana (family), pono (doing what is right), and malama (to serve and to care for), and their values still hold true to this day.

And in the spirit of doing the right thing, I am caring for this Kamaka, even keeping it with a humidifier, until I can find it the right home. I have plenty of ukuleles in my collection and I want to honor them by only keeping the ones I will play and use. It is important for me to share the joy ukulele gives me and pass it along to someone else who will cherish and continue to pass along good vibes.

You can buy it now here at my Shop

This ukulele was made over 60 years ago (as identified by the gold label visible in the sound hole) from the most desired native Koa wood that still grows on the Big Island. Kamaka is renowned for choosing only the finest quality of wood to craft into their instruments. After 6 decades, the sound quality is still superb and there is no sign of warping - which son and namesake of the Kamaka founder, Sam Kamaka Jr. attributes to their process of allowing the wood to age for four years before it even gets molded into a fine instrument.

You will be proud to call this ukulele your own. Unlike many other vintage Kamaka’s this has no cracks, has had no repairs, and is completely original - it’s almost in perfect shape! Everything on it works perfectly. The wood is all together and the tuners hold steady, too.

If you don’t know anything about Kamaka, they aren’t decades-long award-winning ukulele makers for nothing.

Awarded by the Better Business Bureau for "outstanding and valuable service”, recognized by Smithsonian Institute, the sons of the founder of Kamaka company were even granted a day named after them by the Mayor Fasi in 1992.

The demand for Kamaka instruments greatly exceeds their supply. So do yourself a favor and save time by skipping the mandated waiting period (and give or take 60 years of fine aging) and get this Vintage Kamaka that has been well cared for and is “opened up” from its testament of time. You will prefer the sound of this classic soprano to a brand new one.

All-in-all The Kamaka name is synonymous with superior Hawaiian craftsmanship, and Kamaka ukuleles are world-class instruments enjoyed by everyone.

From the Ukulele Underground, Ryan MFT says:

“Vintage Kamaka ukulele's are very desirable. They are not rare or uncommon, but they are usually great payers and sound good. every uke is a little different. If you like new stuff in general, don't go with a vintage uke. If you love old things, and are willing to have a little tweaking done, IMHO there is nothing better than vintage.”

“They aren’t cheap ukuleles - the Kamaka’s, but you definitely get something that’s steeped in history ...Prettiest ones I’ve ever seen. Look at that wood. It’s beautiful!”

But that’s not all.

I understand that buying online is a hard investment. That’s why to sweeten the deal I have just a couple of extras.

Everything on this ukulele is original - except I replaced the strings with Living Waters.

If you don’t know about Living Water, these strings are declared as “Made In Heaven!” Actually they are made in England and “give a wonderfully vibrant, crystal-clear tone to your ukulele. They don’t break easily, give a beautiful even tone and last a long time.” (According to creator Ken Middleton). Made from 100% fluorocarbon they are strong and flexible.

They truly are the best strings, to me, having had pros and cons with Aquilas, Worths, and D’Addarios.

This also includes a Guardian fitted soprano hard case - Amazon sells new for $99.99 and lists it as “made with 5-ply woods that can stand up to a great deal of pressure. The exterior has a well-secured, tolex covering. The neck piece is screwed in for years of use. The case has a black plush interior lining that keeps the ukulele well protected and firmly in place.”

Plus a Bonus:

It came with a vintage 1960s “Kamaka and Sons” booklet that I’ll pass along. This booklet gives a page of the company history and a couple of pages of the models they had available for sale at the time. (Did you know they made Renaissance lutes?!)

All this for only $1200 plus a nominal $30 shipping fee to anywhere in the U.S. Mainland & Hawaii. The shipping fee will help me ensure that it is packed up perfectly and with care to make sure it gets to you as safely as possible so you can enjoy it for decades to come.

Feel the aloha and enter into the history of Hawaiian culture with this Gold-Label Vintage Kamaka Soprano Ukulele.
